Case Study: MilaDopiz Luxury Skincare Website & Branding Rebrand
Overview
MilaDopiz, a premium skincare brand, approached us to reimagine their website and digital branding to better serve a growing audience of skincare-conscious users. The goal was to deliver a luxurious, informative, and highly personalized shopping experience while addressing key pain points such as product overwhelm, lack of skin expertise, and low trust in luxury skincare purchases.
Goals
Help users find skincare products suited to their unique skin types and concerns.
Create a quick, convenient, and informative research and shopping experience.
Deliver a premium, trustworthy brand experience with personalized recommendations.
User Personas
We identified five key user archetypes to guide our design:
Price-sensitive Samantha – Looks for affordable luxury options.
Social Media Maggy – Influenced by trends and user-generated content.
Natural Nat – Prioritizes natural, vegan ingredients.
Youthful Yanny – Seeks anti-aging solutions.
High-end Hilary – Looks for premium experience and brand storytelling.
Research & Insights
Luxury Skincare Users seek more education and reassurance before purchasing.
Site usability was hindered by unclear product categorization and limited product transparency.
Competitor benchmarking (e.g. Glossier, Kiehl’s, Function of Beauty) revealed the importance of interactive tools like skin quizzes, bundled routines, and expert advice blogs.
Key UX & Branding Improvements
1. Navigation & Sitemap Overhaul
Redesigned the navigation bar to include:
Shop by Product Type
Shop by Skin Concern
Skin Quiz
Routine Builder
Created a proposed sitemap that supports intuitive browsing and expert content discovery.
2. Branding & Visual Design
Two style directions explored:
White with rich textures and deep accent colors for a luxurious feel.
White dominant with green and nude tones to convey natural elegance.
Final direction balances clean minimalism with rich textures and editorial typography to reinforce the luxury skincare experience.
3. Content Strategy
Added expert articles, blogs, and customer reviews to boost credibility and transparency.
Included product explanations, routines, and ingredient breakdowns to support less knowledgeable users.
Built a "Your Skin Routine" quiz to deliver personalized product recommendations.
Design Timeline
Week 1: Current and proposed sitemap creation, style guide.
Week 2: Low-fidelity wireframes.
Weeks 3–4: High-fidelity design, including homepage, product page, quiz, and blog.
Results & Impact
The rebrand positioned MilaDopiz as both an authority in skincare education and a luxury brand that understands its customers' unique needs. Early feedback indicated stronger user engagement with skin quizzes, higher trust due to transparent content, and improved product discovery through the revamped navigation and expert content.
